FOOTAGE LOOSE

Are you an animator? Have you ever had one of those days at work where things just aren't going well for ya. Then enjoy Footage Loose. A short film created by me and Steve Meyer (a fellow Dreamworks animator) With the help of our friends and loved ones we created this little short over the past 3 weeks for all you animators out there. Or really just about anyone who has had a crappy day.
Enjoy.

  4. Awesome job! In an earlier post you told us to ask any animation question we have so here's one - Is it easier to independently animate a 2D or 3D cartoon? TB Animator short or a 3D Blender short? Just wondering! Love your work!!

  5. Of course, Feel free to ask me any questions.
The answer to your question unfortunately isn't easy. It all depends on what style your short is going to be in.
If you can draw and paint then you can almost every aspects of 2D. Like the backgrounds the animation the storyboards.
But to do a 3D short you pretty much have to go to school to learn all aspects of it. How to model, rig, texture, light and render and animate. SO it's a little complicated.
If you know how to do all of those it may be easier to do a 3D short. If it's a simple idea in one location.
But if it's a complex short idea with lots of effects and characters and locations then 2D would be easier.
Because if you can imagine it, you can draw it.
As for what software to use to animate. I can't answer that question. it depends on what you know. ToonBoom was easy for me to learn. But other people would be more comfortable using flash. I've never used 3D blender before so I can't really say if that's better.
    I hope that helped.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
